Questacon
National Science and Technology Centre |
VISION
STATEMENT
To be a world class science and technology centre that increases national
awareness, understanding and positive attitudes to science and technology.
General Information
Questacon was officially opened on 23 November, 1988. Based in Canberra,
the nation's capital, Questacon is Australia's leading interactive
science and technology centre.
If you are planning a visit to Questacon, click below. To achieve
its aim of promoting greater understanding and awareness of science
and technology within the community, Questacon is committed to making
an experience with science and technology fun, educational and interactive.
Questacon has over 200 exhibits and approximately 300,000 people visit
the Centre in Canberra each year. There are over 200 volunteer "Explainers"
helping visitors to make the most of their Questacon experience, so
if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Questacon shows how science and technology is relevant and important
to our everyday lives. Whether you're making a telephone call, cooking
a meal or throwing a ball, with the use of everyday examples science
becomes easier to understand.
We believe that the power of our approach is captured in an old Chinese
saying: "when I hear I forget, when I see I remember, when I do I
understand".
Opening Hours
Questacon is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm every day except Christmas
Day.
